| My personal opinion, for what it's worth, is this. Dylan is the joker and John Lennon is the thief. I believe this song is an artistic interpretation and extension of a conversation between Dylan and Lennon. They're speaking of being caught up in the hype and emptyness of superstardom and adulation. Of not being appreciated for their artistic integrity and the futility of concerning themselves with all that. They should continue on their chosen path because only time will redeem them. |
